The Sponsorship Program is designed to support events that will increase awareness within the event participants about issues pertaining to restoration and protection of the natural resources of the Chesapeake and/or Maryland’s other watersheds. The Chesapeake Bay Trust will entertain requests to sponsor events, such as conferences, festivals, and forums that allow the Trust to advance its mission. The Trust will also entertain requests that promote the following major sources of revenue for the Trust: 1) the “Treasure the Chesapeake” license plate program; 2) the Chesapeake and Endangered Species Tax Check-off on the Maryland State income tax form; and 3) the Maryland Outdoor Recreation and Clean Water Fund, where voluntary contributions are made when purchasing a Maryland fishing and hunting licenses, and/or registering a boat online.
What this funds: Conferences, festivals, forums, events, etc.
Who can apply: Non-profit organizations, community associations, faith-based organizations and more. Sponsorships must serve a Maryland audience; however, it may be located anywhere within the Chesapeake Bay watershed. The Trust seeks to engage groups that have traditionally been under-engaged with environmental issues but also new applicants and organizations from a diverse array of communities.
How much can be awarded: Generally, sponsorship awards are made at the $1,000 level for programmatic support and up to $500 for marketing support.
