Watershed and Habitat Restoration

County Specific

Anne Arundel County

Charles County 

  • Charles County Tree Planting: This program will fund up to $20,000 per project for efforts that implement cost-effective reforestation and afforestation projects in Charles County, Maryland.

Montgomery County

  • Clean Water Montgomery: This grant program will fund up to $100,000 per project, depending on project type, to support watershed restoration and outreach projects in Montgomery County, Maryland.

Prince George’s County 

  • Prince George’s Community Gardens: This program will fund up to $9,500 per project for efforts that create or maintain community gardens in Prince George’s County, Maryland.
  • Prince George’s Stormwater Stewardship: This program will fund up to $1 million per project, depending on project type, for restoration activities that engage community members in improving water quality and supporting the Climate Action Plan in Prince George’s County, Maryland.

State and Jurisdiction Specific 

Maryland

Maryland and West Virginia

  • Watershed Assistance: This program will fund up to $150,000 per project, depending on project type, for efforts that support watershed restoration project implementation in the Chesapeake Bay regions of Maryland and West Virginia.

District of Columbia 

  • District of Columbia Community Stormwater Solutions Grant Program: This program will fund up to $35,000 per project for innovative, community-oriented, and inspired projects, aimed at improving water quality in the District of Columbia, reducing litter, and raising awareness about what we can do to restore our rivers, streams, and parks.

Chesapeake Bay Watershed Wide 

  • Green Streets, Green Jobs, Green Towns: This program funds up to $175,000 per project, depending on project type, for not-for-profit organizations to help develop and implement plans that enhance livability in cities and communities in the Chesapeake Bay watershed.

Outreach and Engagement

State and Jurisdiction Specific

Maryland 

  • Healthy Environment, Healthy Communities: This program will fund projects that engage community members and improve the environment in the Patapsco River and Back River watersheds, and Curtis Bay and surrounding communities.
  • Healthy Environment, Healthy Communities – Jones Falls: This program will fund projects that engage community members and improve the environment in the Jones Falls Watershed.
  • Keep Maryland Beautiful (Track 1: Community Stewardship): This program will fund up to $5,000 per project for projects that benefit local communities and the environment.
  • Mini Community Engagement and Restoration: This program will fund up to $5,000 per project for efforts that engage community members or restore a local natural resource in Maryland.
  • Outreach and Restoration: This project will fund up to $125,000 per project, depending on project type, for efforts that promote community engagement or on-the-ground restoration in Maryland.
  • Sponsorship: This program will fund up to $500 per event for events that align with the Chesapeake Bay Trust’s mission.
  • Veterans Engagement: This program will fund up to $5,000 per project for efforts that support veteran-based engagement in outdoor recreation, community engagement, and green jobs training in Maryland.

Maryland and Virginia 

  • Chesapeake Oyster Innovation: This program will fund up to $10,000 per project for efforts that aim to advance oyster aquaculture in Maryland or Virginia.

District of Columbia 

  • District of Columbia Community Stormwater Solutions Grant Program: This program will fund up to $35,000 per project for innovative, community-oriented, and inspired projects, aimed at improving water quality in the District of Columbia, reducing litter, and raising awareness about what we can do to restore our rivers, streams, and parks.

Environmental Education

State and Jurisdiction Specific 

Maryland 

Chesapeake Bay Watershed Wide 

  • Outdoor Learning Network Initiative: This program will support environmental education providers in the Chesapeake Bay watershed with up to $10,000 for their participation in the Network Leadership Course.
  • Youth Environmental Education: This program will fund up to $10,000 per project, depending on project type, for efforts that support youth environmental education opportunities and educator support in the state of Maryland and the Chesapeake Bay watershed portions of Washington D.C., Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia.

District of Columbia

  • District of Columbia Community Stormwater Solutions Grant Program: This program will fund up to $35,000 per project for innovative, community-oriented, and inspired projects, aimed at improving water quality in the District of Columbia, reducing litter, and raising awareness about what we can do to restore our rivers, streams, and parks.

Rebates for Individual Stormwater Solutions

County Specific 

Montgomery County

  • City of Rockville Flood Mitigation Assistance Program: This program will reimburse up to $5,000 per project for efforts that aim to protect individual residences from floodwaters in the City of Rockville, Maryland.
  • City of Rockville RainScapes Rebate: This program will reimburse up to $5,000 per project for efforts that aim to install one of the eight eligible stormwater practices at individual homes or non-profits located in the City of Rockville, Maryland.

Prince George’s County

  • Prince George’s County Rain Check Rebate: This program will reimburse up to $6,000 per project for residential property owners or $20,000 per project for commercial property owners to install stormwater management practices in Prince George’s County, Maryland.

Science

Chesapeake Bay Watershed Wide 

Conservation and Climate Corps

  • Chesapeake Conservation and Climate Corps (CCCC)
    • Host: This program is for non-profit or government organizations in Maryland looking to support a young adult (age 18-25) for a year of service at their organization.
    • Member: This program is for young adults (ages 18-25) looking to be placed at a Maryland non-profit or government organization for a year of paid service.

Capacity Building

State and Jurisdiction Specific 

Maryland 

Chesapeake Bay Watershed Wide 

  • Capacity Building Initiative: This program will fund capacity-building strategies for not-for-profit organizations in the Chesapeake Bay Watershed.
